Screening and Routing
The logistical principles governing the movement and processing of Returning, Retiring and Surplus products are:
To move and process for value-add purposes only and to avoid cost only movement and processing.
With uncertain demand and value for elements of this return stream (used, older equipment, certain trade-in products, poorly conditioned products, product take-backs, etc.), it is prudent to assess and direct the routing of products as early as possible in the returns cycle. Combined with, or independent of the manufacturer’s logistics operations, Multis organises a geographic hubbing operation appropriate to the source of product. Here a level of limited technical assessment can be made to assess the condition of product, to assess its value / cost potential and to test against current and future market demand. This menu and rule based process is designed with the manufacturer and therefore all decisions from the process are at the manufacturer’s discretion.
Depending on this assessment the product can be routed in a number of value-optimising directions:
-To a Remanufacturing centre for full brand and market servicing
-To a reclamation centre (often the assessment hub) to reclaim components of product which have demand and value.
To an asset recovery centre:
-For non-brand processing and controlled sales
-For base materials recycling in compliance with legislation
-For waste management, again in compliance with legislative requirements#
Multis designs, agrees and operates these processes to ensure maximum value for the entire stream of products and their material derivatives.
Multis is compliant with the European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC. Effective July 1st, 2006.
